When to go
Situated just below the equator, Zanzibar’s weather closely parallels Tanzania’s, albeit with a touch more humidity. Notably, sporadic rain during the dry season is less rare here than in mainland Tanzania.
The rainy season spans from March through May. During this period, afternoon tropical downpours are common. High humidity levels and daily temperatures hovering in the low to mid-30s Celsius characterize this time.
From June to October, Zanzibar experiences the extended dry season. Rainfall during these months is relatively scarce. Though temperatures vary depending on altitude and location, clear skies and abundant sunshine prevail. This period offers an ideal window for visiting Zanzibar and enjoying its offerings.
November and December usher in the ‘short rains.’ These rains are less intense and dependable compared to the primary rainy season. Zanzibar typically enjoys a few drier months in January and February, coinciding with Tanzania’s ‘short dry season.
