LUX* Phu Quoc Resort & Villas (Opening 2020)

Over-water sanctuaries fringing a Vietnamese jungle island.

Arriving at LUX* Phu Quoc is only the beginning of the journey.  At the northernmost point of this Vietnamese island off the Cambodian coast, the only way to travel is by boat, so step straight into a traditional Vietnamese fishing craft and cross 1.5km of warm blue Gulf of Thailand waters to a hidden white-sand cove in the shadow of a tree-lined mountain. From here, wooden jetties snake across the sea, flanked by over-water villas that, despite their state-of-the-art amenities, seem to have been here for centuries.  Inspired by traditional Vietnamese architecture and designed to organically emerge from the jungle on the shore, these ocean-bound hideaways could easily be a ‘floating’ village of fisherman’s homes, albeit with added layers of luxury.

As tempting as it is to while away the days admiring the infinite ocean horizon the resort promises endless alternative enticements: a wealth of water sports (including jet skiing, scuba diving, sailing and snorkelling), pampering personalized treatments at the LUX* Me spa, cinema screenings on the sand; workouts in the jungle gym and a globe-spanning array of dining options, from inventive international classics at MIXE to exotically spiced local favourites at the Vietnamese restaurant.  Life at the sea has never been so seductive.
